AAPEX Booth #4608
General Motors six-speed automatic transmissions are found in more than 8 million cars, trucks and crossovers on the road today, and servicing aging units provides independent service centers and transmission specialists with an attractive business opportunity. Those attending the Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association’s annual show – Oct. 30-Nov. 2 in Las Vegas – will get a chance to learn how to diagnose, replace or reprogram GM Original Equipment Transmission Electro Hydraulic Control Modules, the heart of GM six-speed automatic transmissions.
Called “GM’s TEHCM – You Can Fix ’EM,” the seminar is 2-3:15 p.m. Oct. 30 and will be led by expert GM trainers. It will address how to properly diagnose and replace the TEHCM as needed, as well as how to use a J2534 interface tool and a TIS2Web subscription if all that’s needed is a reflash. With these tools, there is no need to send customers to the dealer – and revenue out the door.
GM six-speed automatic transmissions are lauded for their smooth shifting, fuel economy, operating life and overall performance attributes. But like any other automotive component, they will require service as they age. ACDelco introduced GM OE TEHCMs and reprogramming tools last fall at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX).
ACDelco GM OE TECHMs cover these families of GM six-speed transmissions in 2007-current model year GM cars, trucks and crossovers: 6T30/40/45/50; 6T70/75; 6L45/50; 6L80 and 6L90. They integrate electronic and hydraulic components into a single module for optimal driveability and durability. ACDelco TECHMs also include the latest hardware, including a filter plate, solenoids and an upgraded frame. For a demonstration of the ACDelco GM OE TECHM, be sure to stop by the ACDelco booth (#4608).
“The ability to bring reprogramming in-house is a huge breakthrough for independent service centers and transmission shops,” said Michelle Francisco, product specialist for transmission and transfer case assemblies with GM Customer Care and Aftersales.
ACDelco TECHMs feature these advantages over used and/or competitive products:
• All-new GM OE module for optimized fuel economy
• Ability to download the latest calibration software for smoother shifts and better customer satisfaction
• Limited warranty of 12 months/12,000 miles on parts.
TECHM replacements in GM six-speed transmissions require Dexron VI transmission oil and additional parts depending on the application, such as seal kits and valve body cover gaskets.
